What is a doula?

A doula is a professionally-trained labor coach who builds a relationship with the birthing family, facilitates connection, and gives non-biased, judgment-free support of birthing choices while providing evidence-based information, physical comfort, and emotional support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

A doula is also a servant who anticipates the needs of and holds space for the birthing person & partner during labor.

Should I have one for my birth?

The choice to hire a doula is a very personal one. If you have never given birth before, you may appreciate the knowledge and guidance that a doula can offer to you as you navigate the intricacies and emotions of pregnancy and birth.
